Earlier we reported on Housing Development Center’s work assisting REACH Community Development with the renovation of the Bronaugh Apartments. The historic structure in downtown Portland is one of 11 rent-subsidized housing projects that the Portland Housing Bureau targeted in 2008 as being at risk of conversion to market-rate housing. REACH Community Development purchased it in 2013, and HDC worked with REACH, Walsh Construction and Carleton Hart Architecture to plan and manage a major renovation and seismic upgrade.

We’re pleased to report that last month the renovation reached completion on schedule, and residents moved back into safer and more comfortable apartments and a beautifully restored building. Below are snapshots of the grand reopening celebration.
