Today the board of directors of Housing Development Center (HDC) announced the selection of Joni Hartmann as HDC’s new executive director. Joni will begin her tenure as executive director on January 1, succeeding Robin Boyce, who is retiring at the end of December. Joni currently serves as HDC deputy director and as executive director of HDC Community Fund, HDC’s affiliated lending agency.
“The board and staff are extremely excited to welcome Joni as HDC’s new executive director," said HDC Board Chair Bruce Whiting. "Joni is an exceptional leader, manager and partnership builder, who brings deep knowledge of our region’s affordable housing landscape and a proven commitment to strengthening housing opportunities for low-income people."
Joni has more than 20 years of experience in affordable housing finance and asset management, including extensive organizational management experience. Since joining HDC in February 2016, Joni has been a core member of HDC’s leadership team, supervising HDC’s asset management and development-finance teams as well as helming HDC Community Fund and its $2.13 million loan pool. Previously, as deputy director of Network for Oregon Affordable Housing (NOAH) for 13 years, Joni oversaw NOAH’s lending functions, managed its affordable housing loan portfolio, and contributed to community-wide efforts to improve regional affordable housing policies and programs. “I am honored and excited to work with the board and staff to build on HDC’s remarkable 23-year history and to address the opportunities ahead,” said Joni. “Now more than ever it’s imperative to carry forward HDC’s work developing high-quality, financially sustainable projects, and building our industry’s capacity to meet affordable housing needs.”
A reception to introduce Joni to the local community will be held in January.
