HDC is excited to announce that Andrea K. Sanchez, HDC’s director of project finance since 2017, will be promoted to the newly created role of deputy director. In this position, Andrea will work within HDC’s equity-oriented strategic framework to ensure that HDC’s program operations respond to the evolving needs of Oregon’s affordable housing industry.

“HDC is committed to supporting our region’s affordable housing providers, especially organizations serving historically marginalized communities, to achieve their housing goals in a changing environment,” Executive Director Traci Manning said. “Andrea brings deep experience in affordable housing development and strong community relationships to her role leading this work.”

In her previous position, Andrea codirected HDC’s real estate development activities, supervising a team of finance project managers, and contributed to organizational management and strategy-setting as a member of HDC’s management team. As deputy director, Andrea will continue to serve on HDC’s management team, while collaborating across internal departments to ensure delivery of highest-quality integrated development, asset management, and industry support services and to recruit and retain a talented, knowledgeable, diverse staff. Andrea, who serves on the Metro Affordable Housing Bond Oversight Committee and the Oregon Housing Preservation Project Steering Committee, will also engage in affordable housing policy work, with a focus on aligning technical policy implementation with policy goals.

The deputy director position is one of three new director positions HDC created as part of a recent staffing restructure. Two additional positions will codirect HDC’s real estate development activities and will lead interdisciplinary teams of finance and construction project managers. One of these positions has been filled via the promotion of Julie Proksch; the other position remains open. Andrea will step into her new role after both positions are filled.

"I am excited to leverage my breadth of experience to position HDC to respond to our industry’s changing needs," Andrea said. "This work includes helping to build tomorrow’s housing leaders and providing services that support the goals of housing providers that serve Black, Indigenous, and culturally specific communities. Our staffing restructure will create improved conditions for this work to happen.”
